Little Church

The Chapel of the Elevation of St. Cross was constructed by the Trebic builder Jan Fulik between 1644 and 1645. The Chapel's ground plan is cross-shaped with an arc portal. Until recently the letters J. F. together with bricklayer's trowel were still recognizable above the entrance. Today you can see there engraved a cross above a corpus, under it a skull with crossbones, a square and the year 1644. What makes Fulik's work so special is the fact that without any substantial theoretic education he managed to get good 50 years ahead of the heyday of Baroque architecture in Moravia.
